Earlier this year, Manchester based, Cameo Shopfitting, completed the refit of the new larger giftshop at the Coventry Transport Museum. As a result, the company was approached by The National Motorcycle Museum, which has recently been rebuilt after a much-reported major fire. The Motorcycle Museum required a high quality giftshop similar to the one created by Cameo at the Transport Museum, but they wanted it quick. Cameo has a reputation for its fast turnaround and minimal time on site. On this occasion they excelled themselves by designing, building and fitting the whole shop in just three weeks. In executing the job, Cameo was required to consider aesthetics and practicality. As always wheelchair access was important. Maple veneer and glass were the materials used to create the overall cohesion. A large curved desk fronted with frosted glass stands out as a main feature. Lighting has been designed to accentuate the items on display. Stephen Large of Cameo had this to say: "'We have become specialists at undertaking shopfits within museums, heritage sites and visitor attraction centres. We know what’s required and we know how to turn it round quickly." |
